This is your fairly standard blog - primarily for my pictures, travel, interior design, fashion, etc, but with some random musings thrown in. Enjoy!

Come See Me!
I've been a little MIA lately, but that is because I've been hard at work, preparing to be at the Fenton Street Market tomorrow, peddling my wares. If you are in the DC area, you should definitely come see me!

Woo Hoo!
I just got my fifteen minutes of fame! I made it onto the front page of Etsy! Totables is doing quite well these days, and I'm gearing up for my first craft show, so if you're in the DC area come on out! The details are:
T.C. Williams High School
3330 King Street
Alexandria, VA
Saturday, December 18th
10 am to 4 pm
The craft show is being put on by the advanced engineering class and is supporting Joining Hearts and Hands, an organization that promotes educational, health, and economic well fare for the people of Kenya and Tanzania. This organization, founded by William and Joanne Cala, has raised money to build schools, health clinics water wells, and latrines in these countries. They have also provided secondary school scholarships for students and created micro-businesses to promote self-sustainability.

I'm In a Gift Guide!
So I've been a little lackadaisical lately in my blog posting, please forgive me (but doesn't using the word lackadaisical make up for it a little bit?). But anyways, I've made it into an Etsy Gift Guide showcasing fresh emerging shops! They've highlighted my bright and sunny Ribbon Flora Necklace in yellow striped silk. Check out the gift guide if you get a chance - there are so many amazing undiscovered shops out there on Etsy.

Drum Roll Please...
So after getting quite a mixed feedback, I decided to freshen up my old banner and then have both at the ready, so I can mix things up. Right now I have the old style re-done up in the shop...look good?

In other news, I'm anxiously awaiting my mini moos...those are itty bitty business cards, and I'm in the process of designing and ordering labels for my bags. I'm becoming so professional! Stay tuned to see how those all turn out.

And this is why I am not a graphic artist...
So my banner for totables has been making me unhappy for a little while now, as the text is pixelated and I don't like how the white isn't really white, so I set out to make a new banner, but now I can't decide which style I like better. And that's where you come in....help me make up my mind! I like how the new one shows off more styles, but I also like how the texture of the original one really shows itself off. Which do you like better, close up of texture, or lots of thumbnails? Oh, and I've decided the capital T is just way to hard to read in my font, so it will be lowercase whichever way I chose to go.
Oh, and just to prove how much of an engineer and not a graphic artist I am, I lined up all the thumbnails in excel. :)

Woo Hoo - Goal Accomplished!
Today I hit the 25 items listed and 2 pages of listings mark on my Totables Etsy shop! Very exciting for me. It's a lot of work, and I was beginning to think it wouldn't happen. Here are a few of my newest listings:
In A Snap Small Pouch - Felted Coral Wool with Suede Leaves
Look Ma, No Hands Cross-Body Bag - Felted Brown Wool
Flora Chain Necklace - Rust Silk and Suede
Carry Me Clutch - Felted Goldenrod Wool
Out and About in Nature
So yesterday I just happened to look at one of my memory cards and found some pictures from our trek out to boyfriend's cabin in the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania that we took in July. This trip was the start of my love affair with frogs, as it's where Lewis and Clark came home with me in the form of tadpoles. So it's fitting that I happened to take a shot of a beautiful frog, that I have since found out is a pickerel frog.

And our animal sightings didn't end there, we also spent a good hour or so crayfish hunting in the river and managed to catch two. Let it be known that boyfriend and his sister tried unsuccessfully for 20 minutes or so, until I stepped in and caught one in five minutes. :)

In other news, I've actually had a few evenings to myself the past couple of days, rather than spending them working, so I was able to finish up and take photos of nine more items for my Totables shop - stay tuned for the additions!

Treasury No. 7
So I've skipped a few of the treasuries I've been in, but yesterday marked number 7, and because I'm lazy and don't feel like coming up with a blog topic, here you go! It was created by WhoaItsMe,
and it highlights some of the lovely fall apparel options out there on Etsy. Seeing as how it's cold and rainy in DC, I wouldn't mind something cozy to cuddle up with!

Ready for my Close-up
This past weekend we got to put boyfriend's birthday present of photography lighting to use and have a model shoot of all the purses...now I do modeling both in my day job and my side job, although purse modeling is a little more glamorous than transportation modeling.
We had originally intended to take the photos on my roofdeck, as I was going for romantic urban, and it's nice up there with plants and a railing and pretty buildings in the background. But unfortunately, it turns out that you have to get up there at like 6 a.m. in order to get non-completely harsh light, so instead we had to go around to the alley behind my building and do a gritty urban shoot instead. I thought they came out really interesting, and it was a lot of fun.

Salt Bagel Necklace - I'm such a sucker for salt, and my new thing is two-toned jewelry. 3squares has a lot of interesting color combinations for her metals

Angel Food Cake Necklace - Not until I saw the two photos right by each other did I realize the necklaces were very similar. I know what I like, I guess!
